They range from teeth damaged by excessive wear caused by tooth grinding, to chipped, cracked and teeth that have had work done on them. It comprises of chemicals that range from plastic to glass and silicone, which makes the hardened end product very workable and hard wearing. It is mixed up by the dentist and applied as a thick liquid initially; this is then subjected to a light system that hardens each layer before the next is applied. Using a layer process will allow the dentist to work the material quicker and build up a thicker top that is sterile and final. It takes longer to build up the filling than a silver filling and as the dentist will grind, shape and polish it to make it look more natural, it is also more expensive than conventional methods that use normal fillings. The fact to remember is that the filling will look like a natural tooth, and you won`t see any dark material to suggest a filling has taken place. A composite white filling will last the patient around 6-10 years, the colour is matched to surrounding teeth and the chemicals used are subject to staining, much like your natural teeth. To avoid discolouration the patient should avoid such luxuries as red wine, coffee and tea, although white wine is O.K. in moderation of course. A special coating can be applied to make them more colour resistant and your dentist will be able to advise you on that.

The makeover can be done in a dental surgery, a salon or in your own home and even by yourself with a home kit. Home kits can be got from a chemist or the net, they cost as little as £30 and can be done in around 60 minutes. The kit consists of a blank gum shield similar to a sporting shield; you soften it in hot water and then bit down on it to make a mould of your teeth. A bleaching agent is mixed up and placed in the mould, and then it is put back on the teeth and left for 40 minutes. The teeth are bleached white and can last up to a year if you avoid red wine, coffee, tea and anything else that stains the teeth. The salon method is quite popular as well, it costs around £200-400 to do and takes roughly an hour, it involves a gum shield to protect the mouth from the intense light source that reacts with a gel placed on the teeth, the light isn`t harmful but can burn the soft tissue if it isn’t protected. The process is done in 3 x 15 minute sessions, a short rest in between allows the process to cool down. The last method is a Lumineer veneer; these can be fitted very quickly to the teeth to hide misaligned, cracked, chipped and discoloured teeth. There is little preparation involved and the cost is a lot less than conventional veneers.

Smiling is one of the most important methods we have of communicating with each other. A beautiful and genuine smile can break down barriers and put people at ease. For people with less than perfect teeth smiling can be the cause of great embarrassment and the source of self-confidence and esteem issues.

A smile makeover is a complete dental overhaul of your teeth aimed to give you the beaming, confident smile you’ve always wanted. Utilising a variety of dental procedures, a Bootle dentist will be able to radically transform your smile into one that will be the envy of everyone.

There are many options for the dentist to improve your smile. Firstly, they will take into account your features such as skin and hair colour, size and shape of teeth and your profile. They will be able to create a natural and appropriate looking smile according to your existing features. With the advances made in dental technology in the last twenty years there is very little the dentist will not be bale to do with your teeth.

Any existing damage can be repaired with composite bonding, crowns or veneers, Size and spacing issues can be addressed using a process of bonding and the latest in ultra-thin, computer manufactured veneers. Worn down or discoloured teeth can also be treated with the latest porcelain veneers.

Your dentist will be able to discuss any work with you beforehand when you construct your smile blueprint using the latest 3D imaging and digital x-rays. This digital information can also be used to create microscopically accurate repairs, so you can be assured total satisfaction with the results. Once straightened and prepared, the dentist will be able to apply a variety of whitening techniques to improve the colour of your teeth and produce the winning smile you’ve always wanted.

Smile makeovers can include as little or as much work as you require, and there are few limits to what modern dentistry is able to achieve with your teeth. Ask your Bootle dentist about smile makeovers at your nest check up.

Smiling is crucial to how people perceive you. It is one of the most important methods of human communication and is fundamental to forming relationships, making people feel comfortable and welcome and succeeding at work. It reveals more about you than any other physical and even verbal form of expression.

A beautiful smile tells people that you are happy and confident with yourself and in your surroundings. A smile makeover can enhance the quality of your smile by utilizing various cosmetic dentistry procedures like veneers, whitening and composite bonding. A combination of these procedures will make a radical difference to the appearance of your smile and one that everyone will be sure to notice.

Your existing individual features will be taken into account when undergoing a smile makeover. For example, the dentist will factor in the shape and size of your facial features, lips, gums and teeth. Your skin tone and hair colour will also be assessed before work begins so that your new smile will look as natural as possible. If necessary, existing teeth can be altered in size, colour and positioning to fit with the smile blueprint you and your dentist have agreed upon. Positive improvements in profile are also possible by making small adjustments to the structure of the teeth which leads to fuller cheeks and lips.

Teeth that have become discoloured over the years because of staining from food, drink and smoking can be bleached white and any cracks or cavities will be bonded or filled, all as part of the wider smile makeover process. An Aintree dentist will also be able to use the very latest CAD/CAM technology to project a 3D image of how the resulting smile will look. It is also possible to use the 3D imaging apparatus to analyse bite and profile projections. Finally, gum contouring can be used to finish off the procedure by making teeth look even sized and shaped. A smile makeover really does include a full survey and repair of the mouth and teeth.

Smile makeovers can be expensive depending on the level of treatment needed but the results can be simply stunning. Even small procedures can make a big difference to your smile and a makeover can be an ongoing process. Ask your Aintree dentist how you could makeover your smile and give yourself the full beam confidence you’ve always wanted.

Even though you may have had good dental care and hygiene throughout your life, your gums may start to shrink. If you have receding gums, your Wirral dentist may be able to use various gum recontouring procedures to create an optimal amount of gum tissue. Without a question, if your teeth are sensitive, or the roots are exposed, gum recontouring may be the best option.

As you may be aware, gum tissue serves to hold your teeth in place, as well as prevent bacteria and food particles from reaching the roots and bone. When there is not enough gum tissue, you may experience a higher number of infections. At the same time, if you wear dentures, erosion of gum tissue may also increase your risk of developing bone loss. Unfortunately, once too much bone and gum tissue is worn away, you may have problems chewing with your dentures.

Today, many people underestimate the importance of gum health. Therefore, if you have not had a periodontal exam, it may be to your advantage to have one. At the very least, if you find out that gum tissue is too thin in some areas, you can have the condition treated. In most cases, additional gum tissue can be grafted on with a minimal amount of difficulty. Even if you do not have enough gum tissue available in other parts of your mouth, synthetic grafts can also be used.

Many people that have receding gums tend to consider it an unsightly conditions. If this is of concern to you, then it will be to your advantage to have gum recontouring procedures as soon as possible. Aside from helping you look more attractive, you will also be doing something that will help preserve the long term health and functionality of your teeth.

If you have small cavities, or a minimal amount of tooth decay, it will be to your advantage to visit your Toxteth dentist and ask for air abration treatment. As you may be aware, air abration is used to remove decayed tissue from the cavity. In conventional dentistry, this would be achieved by using a drill.

Today, air abration has a significant number of advantages. To begin, if you can’t stand the sound of a dental drill, or hate having your mouth numbed up, air abration will be perfect for you. Aside from not requiring an enormous amount of preparation, you will most likely feel much more comfortable.

Typically, air abration is much better for your teeth. Among other things, all drills cause a certain amount of vibration. Even though dental drills are carefully manufactured, they may still create some cracks in the enamel surrounding a cavity. On the other hand, air abration will not cause this problem. Therefore, if you have routine oral exams, there is no reason to hold off on taking care of small cavities. In most cases, small cavities can be easily managed without needing to make use of a drill.

When your dentist makes use of air abration, you can have peace of mind knowing that less healthy tooth material will be removed. This, in turn, will help the tooth stay stronger, as well as ensure that fillings will last longer. As with anything else related to oral health, there is nothing quite like the natural materials that formed your teeth in the first place. It will always be to your advantage to ensure that small cavities are treated with a minimal amount of trauma to the tooth. At the very least, you will have a better chance of looking forward to natural, healthy teeth well into your advanced years.

Now I don’t want to get too technical here(!) but you may know that CEREC is the most modern, accurate and speedy way of replacing your old mercury amalgam fillings with porcelain inlays. Previously you would have had to have had impressions taken of your teeth and them sent of to the laboratory to be made into porcelain . You would return 2 weeks later, have another injection, temporary dressing removed and your new inlay tried in. Sometimes they wouldn’t fit, which would lead to the time and inconvenience of having new ones made.

CEREC changed all that , In one visit, here at SAVING FACES in Aintree near Liverpool. we take images of your teeth and they’re scanned into the CEREC computer which them presents us with a “virtual inlay”. This information is electronically transferred into a milling machine which makes your perfectly fitting inlay in minutes. The inlay so then fitted. The whole process takes 1 hour.

In addition we now have the facility to do more than 1 CEREC per visit with some new software added to the programme. For example Jackie from Liverpool was in to day and had 2 huge old amalgam fillings in her bottom right back teeth. In one visit these were removed, new CEREC inlay so made and bonded into her teeth. They are guaranteed for 5 years but should last many more years than that if looked after well.

It really is marvellous what we can do these days. A man came in today from Southport, complaining that his NHS dentist cant see him for 3 weeks, he is going away on holiday at the weekend, and he needs his broken tooth fixing today. Lets imagine if his dentist were able to see him today. What might he do?Perhaps smooth his tooth and place a dressing , for permanent restoration after his hols?
Well maybe a few years ago that’s what I would have done. Now , however we have CEREC,a computer system that makes a porcelain inlay whilst you wait, to exactly fit your tooth , and we guarantee for 5 years.Whats is more it fits perfectly, and the porcelain is colour matched to be the same as the rest of the tooth.
The man from Southport left the practice with his tooth restored, and happy to go on his summer holidays. He even said when we showed him the result with our intra oral camera, that the tooth next door with the big black filling in looked pretty ropey , and could he have that one done as well after his hols!
CEREC, The number 1 way of restoring back teeth and replacing old silver fillings with white ones

Well they travel from far and wide…… well Woolton and Gateacre near Liverpool anyway! We had two ladies in recently who had watched “10 Years Younger “and seen a smile makeover being performed. The bit they liked most however , was the idea of the” Trial Smile “before the porcelain veneers were fitted. How do they make those temporary veneers or crowns to look so good.?Well here at SAVING FACES that’s exactly what we do. We send some impressions of your teeth to California where they mock up your teeth exactly as they might look when they are finished, Then we prepare you teeth for your smile makeover, and fit your “Trial Smile” to see what you think.
The beauty of the “Trial Smile” is that it is in acrylic , and you wear it for days or weeks, have it adjusted as you wish until you say,”Thats id exactly how I would like my new smile to look. Then we take new pictures and impressions and have the new ceramics made exactly to your desired specification, here at SAVING FACES in Aintree near Liverpool..It takes any guessing out of the final result, and you can be as sure as possible that you will receive the smile you want.
Certainly the ladies from Woolton and Gateacre were happy with the results of both their “trial smile” and their final new porcelain smile.!
