Implants are like a denture that needs no removal, glue or soaking in a special solution overnight. A denture is a false tooth on a plate that is fixed to the mouth with glue; an Implant is a false tooth on a plate that is fixed to the jaw bone with screws, so they aren’t so different in some respects. The implant takes a lot longer to fit, it can range from 3-6 months, but it is a permanent fixture that works by integrating the plate into the jaw line itself to make it more natural. The procedure starts with a Titanium plate being inserted under the gum, the plate can be for a single tooth or a row. It is screwed into place and then left to fuse with the jaw over a period of months. The plate has pre-drilled holes in it to take poles later on; these will be where the new tooth sits in position. After the procedure is completed the patient will soon settle into their new teeth and most simply forget that they even have false teeth. They are cared for and cleaned just like real teeth and for all intents should be treated as real teeth. They cost a little more to have made and fitted, but that is outweighed by their benefits, and the fact they need no special care when cleaning takes place.

Dental Implants are becoming more popular these days as more and people choose not to go for dentures, says a Wirral dentist. The problem with dentures is that many people are far too busy to put up with all the daily chores involved in maintaining dentures. With an implant you don’t have to do anymore than you would usually do for all your other natural teeth. They are still a fairly new procedure in dental history terms, and the operation is usually carried out by a surgeon rather than a dentist. The procedure is a long one though, taking up to six months in some cases. It starts with a plate, made of Titanium, which is slide under the gum and then screwed down to the jaw bone. The bone then grows around and over the plate so it can become part of the jaw, this plate has holes in it and when the growth is completed Titanium poles are then screwed into holes. The plate can hold a single tooth or a series of teeth, which are made by an orthodontist to order and colour coded to suit. The tooth or teeth are then placed on the poles and glued into position. For all intents this acts like a newly grown tooth and can be used as such. Cleaning it is just the same as it is for your own natural teeth, so flossing and brushing is just as important. It is a good choice for those who don`t want dentures.

One of the main complaints patients have always had against artificial dental substitutes is that they don’t ever really feel like real teeth. Dental bridges and partial dentures may restore the aesthetic quality of the teeth and act as a sufficient facial support, but they never quite feel like a natural part of the mouth. They are also more fragile than real teeth meaning many patients have to watch what they eat for fear of causing damage.

However, there is one dental substitute where none of these problems become an issue. Dental implants have been hailed as the most natural and realistic of all the restorative dental procedures. Not only do they look natural, but because they replace the whole party of the tooth, they also feel just like real teeth. They work by implanting a small titanium screw directly into the jawbone below the gum. This may sound like a slightly unpleasant procedure but in reality it is relatively painless. Once the implant is in it will need some time to fuse with the surrounding bone and tissue. It is this natural fusion that gives the dental implant its superior stability and solidity.

After several weeks the implants is set firm. First a post will be attached to it and then an artificial tooth. A single implant can be used as a base for one or more teeth, or in a series of mini-implants as a base for a set of dentures. This is proving to be very popular as it alleviates the anxiety of loose dentures. You can find out more about dental implants at a Merseyside dentist. There is no need to suffer the pain and embarrassment of missing teeth any longer, and if you are unhappy with your current dental substitute it may be time to take the step up to a dental implant.

One of the most realistic replacements for a missing tooth is a dental implant. Because it is anchored into the jawbone itself, it provides a degree of stability that can be lacking in other artificial dental substitutes.

Missing teeth, caused by head trauma or dental decay, can not only be embarrassing but can also be the cause of further dental and general health complications. Missing teeth can allow space for bacteria to build up in places difficult to clean with regular brushes. The bacteria turns into plaque which causes tooth decay and gum disease which leads to further tooth loss.

Teeth also act as rigid supports for facial tissue so if a tooth or teeth are missing the facial muscles can begin to sag leaving a sunken expression on the patient’s face. Unless corrected this can permanently alter the appearance and profile of the patient. Missing teeth can also cause existing teeth to shift leading to further complications with bite and jaw alignment.

There are several options to replace missing teeth, including partial dentures and dental bridges, but the most popular and most secure is a dental implant. These take the form of cylindrical screws that are anchored directly in the jawbone. Crowns can then be attached to the screws to offer a sturdy and realistic alternative to a real tooth.

A dental implant will usually take several visits to the dentist to install. When the screw is initially implanted, it will need several weeks to fuse with the bone and the gums in a process called osseointergration. When secure, a post will be attached to the screw which will then be the base for a realistic ceramic crown.

Small dental implants can also be used to attach dentures. In this process, half a dozen small implants will be secured to which dentures can snap on and off. This allows denture wearers the comfort of knowing their false teeth are secure and unlikely to fall out.

Dental implants can provide a genuine long-term replacement for a missing tooth and if cared for properly can last up to fifteen years. If you are suffering from a missing tooth and desire a rigid substitute, ask a Merseyside dentist about dental implants.

A missing tooth can leave an embarrassing gap in your smile that can be the source of self confidence issues. After all, smiling is one of the most important communication methods we have. A dental implant might be just the solution you have been looking for to repair your smile and your confidence. Dental implants are the most realistic form of dental replicas and offer a greater degree of stability than other procedures.

The implant itself is in the form of a screw that is anchored directly into the jawbone which acts as a stable base to attach a crown. Usually made of titanium or other lightweight substances suitable for use in the human body, implants offer a genuine substitute for real teeth. Suitable for most patients, dental implants have been around for some years but due to recent advances in technology and surgery methods they are rapidly becoming the choice option to replace missing teeth.

Due to the sturdy nature of a dental implant no messy adhesive or dental bonding is needed and certain foods, which are difficult to eat with other dental substitutes, are not a problem for a dental implant. Also, because of the extra stability there is little chance of profile loss or facial shrinking that can occur when teeth are missing.

The implant procedure usually has three steps. Firstly the screw is implanted into the jaw so it is just proud of the gumline. It is then left so it can fuse with the bone and gum to become solid in a process called osseointergration. Next, a post is attached to which, in the final stage, the dentist will attach the realistic ceramic crown.

Dental implants work especially well for patients who have strong existing jaw and gums. With a commitment to good oral hygiene they can last as long as a real tooth and will look almost exactly the same. If you are suffering with a missing tooth from decay or an accident, an Aintree dentist might be able to bring back your smile with a dental implant.

Dental implants have always remained the choice option to replace lost or missing teeth. Most people worldwide prefer these to removable dentures or fixed dental bridges since the implants are for long-term use and can be surgically placed into the jawbone by your dental surgeon.

An implant is usually made of titanium metal which integrates extremely well with the bone tissue and is fused into the previously drilled socket of the jawbone in the place of the missing tooth by a procedure called osseointegration. It is composed of three parts;
• Titanium implant – this is the part that is surgically fused into the bone
• Abutment – this is the region over the titanium implant and protrudes from the gums
• Crown – this appears as the tooth and is created by a restorative dentist to give it a natural appearance.

The best thing about dental implants over removable dentures is that since they are fixed to the bone, they never slip or make funny noises to give any indication that you have false teeth. The advantage these implants have over fixed dental bridges is that they do not affect the neighbouring teeth or cause bone loss. Multiple implants can be used if you have more than one missing teeth. Being tightly locked into the jaw bone, they provide stability giving you the confidence you possessed with natural teeth.

one of the most common requests receive her at SAVING FACES in Liverpool, is how to replace one or more gaps in an otherwise sound mouth. People who have taken care of their teeth for many years do not want to wear dentures. Often the teeth either side of the gap are perfectly sound teeth, and our clients don’t want them to be cut down for a bridge. In this case the answer is a DENTAL IMPLANT. The implant system we use here in SAVING FACES is called the BICON system. Currently we are the only practice in Liverpool using this system.

This is how the system works. Our comes in one day and has the BICON titanium implant placed into the bone It is painless. The bone is allowed to heal around the implant for the next 3-4 months after which time the implant is uncovered and a new tooth placed in the implant.

The advantages of this system are that no other teeth are touched in the replacement of the missing tooth, and that in most cases research has shown that most implants will last a lifetime.

We had a lady in yesterday from Maghull who had two implants placed one on either side of her mouth. In 3-4 months time she will have new teeth that will probably last a lifetime.

So if you want to replace missing teeth in the Liverpool area with the best treatment available, a dental implant is usually the best option.

As people hang on to their teeth longer, the replacement of missing teeth is different now compared with many years ago . People who lost teeth were often given full or partial plastic acrylic dentures, which were bulky , difficult to wear and often impaired taste

Today it can be different. Here in SAVING FACES we treat missing teeth with Dental Implants not only from Aintree and nearby Maghull, but from Crosby Formby Southport and Birkdale. WE had a lady in last week from Birkdale who hadlosther front tooth. WE placed a Dental implant into her Bone , painlessly I might add, and in a few short months after the bone has fused with the implant, place a tooth in the implant.

This has the advantage of not having a denture , and not touching the natural teeth either side of the gap. The Dental Implant system we use here in SAVING FACES in Aintree, home of the Grand National, is the BICON system. We find it consistent in the reliability of its results. Reserarch has shown thta Dental implants can last lifetime
