They are strong and robust, they last you for life and they are the perfect for replacing missing teeth, as well as helping you keep those dentures in the mouth. These days, you can have a dental implants fitted at most dental surgeries on Mersyside, as they have become as common as a dental check-up. Implant surgery used to take a long time to do because of the healing process involved. Overall, it could take as long as a year before the implant was ready to accept the fitting. It was also very hard to find someone who could do the surgery in this country, which made it wildly expensive. So what has changed all this? Lasers and computers, that’s what. The scalpel and the drill have started to bow down to laser technology, that can put a hole into the jawbone with extreme accuracy and with the minimal of damage to the surrounding gum tissue. Being that the technicalities of the procedure are done by computer, it has taken a lot of the sting out of the operation for dentists, meaning that implant technology has become available all around the country, and prices have got cheaper and cheaper. Because of the refinement of the whole treatment, you can have an implant fitted and ready to use in a day in some cases. They are the perfect replacement for the original root and are more resilient to infections, the average body accepts titanium more than any other metallic intrusion. Once in the mouth, they are the perfect foundation for the new crown, help to stabilize any bridge work, and are great for locking dentures firmly in the mouth.

Having a Dental Implant on Merseyside
Thursday, July 28th, 2011How do Dental Implants work? A Merseyside dentist explains the facts
Friday, October 1st, 2010
Dental Implants were devised through research in the 1950s and 60s, the first operation was carried out in Sweden in 1965, says a Merseyside dentist. The procedure involves screwing a titanium plate to the jaw bone under the gum line, and then it is left for 3-6 months to allow the bone to grow over it. The plate has pre drilled and screwed holes in it for later use. Once the bone has grown and the plate is part of the jaw, abutments are then screwed into the holes, these are titanium poles that the false teeth will eventually sit on. The teeth are made by a dental tecnician who makes them to order from digital pictures taken earlier. The false teeth are then slid down the abutment and cemented into position; it is a permanent fixture and will not need to be replaced for many years to come. If the tooth becomes chipped, cracked or discoloured then it can replaced within a few weeks by a new one without any fuss. They need no special care and can be cleaned and maintained by simply brushing in the usual manner, the six monthly check ups will also help to keep them in pristine condition. It may sound like a painful procedure, but it is completely painless, with just a slight amount of discomfort when the gum line stitches are healing up, these will occur in the early stages when the plate is fitted and later when the abutments are screwed in place.
Dental implants; the facts by a Wirral dentist
Sunday, June 20th, 2010
Dental Implants are becoming more popular these days as more and people choose not to go for dentures, says a Wirral dentist. The problem with dentures is that many people are far too busy to put up with all the daily chores involved in maintaining dentures. With an implant you don’t have to do anymore than you would usually do for all your other natural teeth. They are still a fairly new procedure in dental history terms, and the operation is usually carried out by a surgeon rather than a dentist. The procedure is a long one though, taking up to six months in some cases. It starts with a plate, made of Titanium, which is slide under the gum and then screwed down to the jaw bone. The bone then grows around and over the plate so it can become part of the jaw, this plate has holes in it and when the growth is completed Titanium poles are then screwed into holes. The plate can hold a single tooth or a series of teeth, which are made by an orthodontist to order and colour coded to suit. The tooth or teeth are then placed on the poles and glued into position. For all intents this acts like a newly grown tooth and can be used as such. Cleaning it is just the same as it is for your own natural teeth, so flossing and brushing is just as important. It is a good choice for those who don`t want dentures.
Dental bridge from Bootle dentist makes patient smile again
Saturday, October 3rd, 2009
A dental bridge is an artificial implant that is anchored onto the existing teeth to restores the natural appearance of the original teeth. They are used by dentists to fill spaces left by one or more teeth in the tooth line. The bridge is held in place by fusing it to existing teeth on either side.
Dental bridges are a simple and effective way of restoring the appearance of a healthy smile but there are other added cosmetic advantages. Gaps caused by missing teeth can lead to leaning and movement of the other teeth. If a missing tooth is not replaced the existing teeth will lean into gap which can cause problems with bite and profile. Bite is the way that the bottom and top rows of teeth sit together and any small alterations in this can cause discomfort to the patient. Dental bridges can also help prevent gum disease which can be very painful and irritating and lead to further health complications such as heart disease. Bacteria that would build up in the gap left by a tooth is prevented by the presence of a dental bridge which improves oral hygiene.
There are a number of different types of dental bridge but the most common is the traditional fixed bridge, where the ceramic false tooth is anchored to the existing teeth either side with crowns and resin. Resin bonded bridges are when the new tooth is secured with metal strips and resin, without the need for crowns. A cantilever bridge is when there is only existing teeth on one side of the gap and therefore the bridge will need to be anchored to two or more teeth on that side.
A dental bridge will usually require several trips to the dentist to complete but is usually a relatively painless procedure. The dentist will take a mold of your teeth and then build the bridge in the lab prior to fixing it. As crowns and resin may need to set the installation may take more than one visit.
Dental bridges can last up to seven years if looked after correctly. They can help improve the appearance of the teeth as well as improving the health of existing teeth and gums. Good standards of oral hygiene and regular check ups will keep the bridge in good condition and leave you smiling again.
Get the Best Dental Implants in Aintree

Dental implants have always remained the choice option to replace lost or missing teeth. Most people worldwide prefer these to removable dentures or fixed dental bridges since the implants are for long-term use and can be surgically placed into the jawbone by your dental surgeon.
An implant is usually made of titanium metal which integrates extremely well with the bone tissue and is fused into the previously drilled socket of the jawbone in the place of the missing tooth by a procedure called osseointegration. It is composed of three parts;
• Titanium implant – this is the part that is surgically fused into the bone
• Abutment – this is the region over the titanium implant and protrudes from the gums
• Crown – this appears as the tooth and is created by a restorative dentist to give it a natural appearance.
The best thing about dental implants over removable dentures is that since they are fixed to the bone, they never slip or make funny noises to give any indication that you have false teeth. The advantage these implants have over fixed dental bridges is that they do not affect the neighbouring teeth or cause bone loss. Multiple implants can be used if you have more than one missing teeth. Being tightly locked into the jaw bone, they provide stability giving you the confidence you possessed with natural teeth.
REPLACE MISSING TEETH WITH DENTAL IMPLANTS
Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008As people hang on to their teeth longer, the replacement of missing teeth is different now compared with many years ago . People who lost teeth were often given full or partial plastic acrylic dentures, which were bulky , difficult to wear and often impaired taste
Today it can be different. Here in SAVING FACES we treat missing teeth with Dental Implants not only from Aintree and nearby Maghull, but from Crosby Formby Southport and Birkdale. WE had a lady in last week from Birkdale who hadlosther front tooth. WE placed a Dental implant into her Bone , painlessly I might add, and in a few short months after the bone has fused with the implant, place a tooth in the implant.
This has the advantage of not having a denture , and not touching the natural teeth either side of the gap. The Dental Implant system we use here in SAVING FACES in Aintree, home of the Grand National, is the BICON system. We find it consistent in the reliability of its results. Reserarch has shown thta Dental implants can last lifetime
