Your Birkenhead Dentist Explains How Dental Veneers Can Help You Achieve Straight Teeth and a Beautiful Smile
Sunday, December 4th, 2011The choices of Teeth Whitening on Merseyside
Thursday, February 3rd, 2011
There are many ways to improve your smile on Merseyside and you don’t even have to visit a dentist anymore; home bleaching kits have become as common as a haircut and you can get them almost anywhere, from supermarkets to chemists. They’re affective and cheap- around £80- and you can do the work at your own leisure. But of course, there are also some fantastic alternatives available from your dentist too, if you don’t feel competent enough to do the work yourself. A 14 day course with Enlighten, will do the job in your sleep, once you’ve been measured up by your dentist. Another favorite at the dentists is laser whitening, the trendy one right now being ZOOM!, thanks to some highbrow make-over shows on T.V- these come with superb results, and for around a £400, you can restore the radiance to your mouth in as little as an hour. Of course, if your teeth are cracked or worn, bleaching will not really improve your smile, so you may have to venture further. Cosmetic bonding is a great way to restore chips, remove gaps, and repair cracks to the teeth- in a sense it’s a great way to ‘touch-up’ your teeth for around £150. But the Rolls-Royce method of restoring the whiteness to your teeth is to have porcelain veneers fitted. These sit beautifully in the mouth, look very natural and for around £650 a go, they’re a snip!
Teeth Whitening and the choices. By a Merseyside dentist

Teeth whitening is now available in various formats, from an easy to apply home kit to a salon based service that is done by a highly trained technician. The other alternatives are the latest in veneers and are called Lumineer’s. The home kit can be bought on the net or in most chemist shops for as little as £30, they come complete with everything you`ll need and instructions. First you`ll need to make a mould with an impression of your teeth in it, this is easy as in the kit you`ll find a blank gum shield to do this with. You bite down on it and then you fill it half way with the whitening agent, you then put it back on your teeth and wait 40 minutes, clean the shield out and you can reuse it later on. The salon way is a machine that produces an intense blue light; this reacts with a gel on the teeth to whiten your teeth back to its natural glory. With both methods you`ll also need to avoid any food or drinks that will stain the teeth again, that way it will last you a year or so. A Lumineer is a new type of veneer; it is made from a tough material that allows the orthodontist to make them thinner than previous veneers. This means that little or no preparation is required saving time in the chair and making it simpler and cheaper. They are also reversible in that they can be easily removed at any time.
Teeth Whitening made easy, by a Toxteth dentist
Thursday, July 29th, 2010
White teeth are all the rage these days, and it doesn’t have to be complicated, painful or even expensive says a Toxteth dentist. A home DIY kit costs as little as £40 and is easy to do yourself, visiting a salon in the High Street is also an option as most now offer whiter teeth for as little as £200-400. Depending on the discolouration either method may well suit you. Veneers are an option as well; with the new Lumineer’s having a set fitted is an easy procedure and takes just a few hours to do a whole mouth. These very thin veneers are tough and long lasting and leave your teeth with no permanent damage, as opposed to conventional veneers that require enamel to be shaved off the tooth. Let’s take a look at what the salon offers to the client. A mobile technician will prepare your teeth by inserting a soft gum shield in your mouth, and then they coat a gel onto your teeth and shine a blue intense light source onto the teeth. The gel reacts with the tooth`s natural enamel and blends the colour cells of the enamel to produce a white coating. This is done in 3 x 15 minute sessions, allowing for a cooling off period in between. You`ll need to stick to a strict diet sheet if you want it to last though, so no more red wine or artificially enhanced food dyes or cocktails. You can eat and drink anything white, but not strongly coloured.
Lumineer’s are they really that good? Aintree dentist advises
Sunday, July 18th, 2010
Lumineer’s are the latest thing to come out of dental advances, they are a cosmetic solution to the age old problem of misaligned, discoloured, chipped and cracked teeth, says Aintree dentist. Made from a newly designed formula, which includes Porcelain, they are so tough and hard wearing that they come in a super thin format. Unlike conventional veneers, which are also made from Porcelain, these particular veneers can be fitted straight onto the teeth without any preparation work. Most Lumineer’s can be fitted by a dentist in their surgery, and in your lunch hour as they take less than 30 minutes to adhere to the teeth. Although they are very thin, they still cover all the aforementioned cosmetic problems that a lot of people have. With normal veneers a lot of preparation work is needed to enable the thicker veneers to be fitted properly. The teeth are shaved of their enamel and the veneer then replaces that enamel, which means that unless you want to lose the tooth entirely, you can only ever have a veneer fitted to it. The Lumineer lasts around 20 years compared to 10-15 for the conventional veneers. If you need any other work done on the tooth, then with the Lumineer it is quite easy to have it lifted off to enable this to be done, then you can either leave the tooth as it originally was or have the Lumineer re-fitted. That is one of the main advantages along with the reduction in cost.
What are Lumineers and how can they help your problem. By a Bootle dentist

We all get teeth problems in our lifetime; no matter how well we look after our teeth says a Bootle dentist. Many of these problems are caused by circumstances beyond our control, and are often expensive to fix. Having teeth problems knocks our confidence and makes us conscious of the problem when speaking to people. Let’s look at some of the most common; discoloured teeth, chipped, cracked and misaligned teeth. The good news is that all these problems can be fixed with a Lumineer, but how? Well, a Lumineer is a veneer and we all know what a veneer is don`t we? This innovative type is fairly new and it really is a revolution in modern day dentistry. Made from a specially designed formula, it is tougher than a conventional veneer and so it comes in a much thinner format. It can be fitted in less than an hour and you can even have more than one at a time. There is no need in most cases for an anaesthetic as there is no need to shave the tooth before fitting, as is the case with normal veneers. Tests have shown they can last up to 20 years, and if a better method comes along in the future, then the Lumineer is simply removed to allow work on the tooth. With a normal veneer, once the tooth is shaved to accept the veneer it can only ever have a new veneer fitted back on. The price of a Lumineer is also better than a veneer as not so much work is needed.

Smiling is crucial to how people perceive you. It is one of the most important methods of human communication and is fundamental to forming relationships, making people feel comfortable and welcome and succeeding at work. It reveals more about you than any other physical and even verbal form of expression.
A beautiful smile tells people that you are happy and confident with yourself and in your surroundings. A smile makeover can enhance the quality of your smile by utilizing various cosmetic dentistry procedures like veneers, whitening and composite bonding. A combination of these procedures will make a radical difference to the appearance of your smile and one that everyone will be sure to notice.
Your existing individual features will be taken into account when undergoing a smile makeover. For example, the dentist will factor in the shape and size of your facial features, lips, gums and teeth. Your skin tone and hair colour will also be assessed before work begins so that your new smile will look as natural as possible. If necessary, existing teeth can be altered in size, colour and positioning to fit with the smile blueprint you and your dentist have agreed upon. Positive improvements in profile are also possible by making small adjustments to the structure of the teeth which leads to fuller cheeks and lips.
Teeth that have become discoloured over the years because of staining from food, drink and smoking can be bleached white and any cracks or cavities will be bonded or filled, all as part of the wider smile makeover process. An Aintree dentist will also be able to use the very latest CAD/CAM technology to project a 3D image of how the resulting smile will look. It is also possible to use the 3D imaging apparatus to analyse bite and profile projections. Finally, gum contouring can be used to finish off the procedure by making teeth look even sized and shaped. A smile makeover really does include a full survey and repair of the mouth and teeth.
Smile makeovers can be expensive depending on the level of treatment needed but the results can be simply stunning. Even small procedures can make a big difference to your smile and a makeover can be an ongoing process. Ask your Aintree dentist how you could makeover your smile and give yourself the full beam confidence you’ve always wanted.
