Principal - Dr. Anthony Coyne

Born in Liverpool, Dr. Anthony Coyne qualified as a dental surgeon in 1985 from Sheffield University.

From 1986-1991 he was surgeon lieutenant dentist with the Royal Navy.

In 1996 Dr. Anthony opened Old Roan Dental Practice, converting it to private practice in 2001.

In 2010 our state of the art Switch House dental practice was opened.

He has a keen interest in facial aesthetics and has been the co-presenter of IMTEC MDI mini dental implant courses.

Dr. Anthony is

  • Fully trained in the Enlighten Deep Bleaching™ system, Invisalign, Botox and Dermal Fillers
  • Has invested in equipment and training to provide one hour porcelain teeth via the World's most advanced computerised porcelain manufacturing process, CEREC
  • A full member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, currently one of only four in Merseyside
  • Gold member of the International Academy of Advanced Facial Aesthetics
  • Has completed hands-on training with the World famous cosmetic dentist Larry Rosenthal in London for Smile Design, and preparation and fitting of multiple porcelain veneers
  • Is committed to an ongoing programme of post graduate education and training, aimed at providing the most up to date treatment and facilities available as seen on "10 Years Younger" and "Extreme Makeover"

Dr. Anthony has spent time training in Harley St London, the BICON Dental Institute Boston USA, the University of Cartagena Columbia studying and hands on placing the BICON Dental Implant System which is amongst the best ways available of replacing missing teeth. He is currently the only dentist placing this implant system in Merseyside and the Wirral.

As well as having an interest in cosmetic dentistry and facial aesthetics, the dental practice is also just that, a dental practice. We are a private practice committed to endeavouring to bring the best dentistry we can to our patients.

After joining the practice, new patients will have an initial course of treatment to bring them to dental fitness.


Endodontist - Miss Katherine Emily Blundell (Kate!) BDS (Hons) MFDS RCS Ed PGCert GDC 85600

Kate graduated from Liverpool University in 2005 with Honours and a Distinction in Oral Health. She gained membership to the Faculty of Dental Surgery Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh in 2007 whilst undertaking the role of a Senior House Officer at Liverpool Dental Hospital. This job involved treating patients from all different walks of life, young and old; many of whom were extremely anxious of treatment.

Kate has been a Clinical Teacher in Restorative Dentistry at Liverpool University full time for two years and whilst undertaking this role, she discovered her love for endodontics (root canal treatment) and decided to go on to do a period of further study, namely an MSc in Endodontics at Manchester University part time after which she hopes to gain entry onto the Specialist list for Endodontics

Whilst working for Liverpool University Kate treated a large number of difficult cases referred from General Dental Practitioners around Merseyside and beyond.

Kate does a lot of work in the Emergency Dental Service as well as some NHS practice as well as still working at the University part time. She really enjoys helping to relieve the pain or discomfort that patients suffer as a result of pain of endodontic origin.

Kate is happy to see patients on referral for endodontic treatment and re-treatment. She usually prefers to meet patients for a consultation beforehand so they are able to discuss the procedure without feeling threatened or fear of impending treatment!

Kate also loves writing music, singing and playing the guitar, she enjoys photography and is mad about her two Persian cats; Dylan and Coco !


Oral Surgeon - Mr Robert James Laycock MBChB MRCS Edin BDS (Hons) MFDS RCS Edin GDC:76318 GMC:61454445

Rob graduated in dentistry in 1999 from the University of Liverpool and started his Oral Surgery and Maxilllofacial Surgery training in 2000. He gained membership to the Faculty of Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 2002.

Rob was a clinical lecturer in Oral Surgery at the University of Liverpool for 2 years before leaving to study medicine. He continued his Oral Surgery practice whilst training and graduated in medicine in 2006 from the University of Manchester. After completing his basic surgical training, he gained his surgical fellowship in 2008, again from the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh)

Currently he works at the regional Maxillofacial unit at Aintree hospital and has been involved in oral surgery for many years.

Rob has been working for Halton and St Helens PCT since 2004 providing surgical dentistry on referral for local dental practitioners.

He performs the majority of his oral surgery under local anaesthetic but is happy to offer treatment under intravenous sedation for anxious patients.

Rob welcomes referrals for routine extractions, surgical dentistry with or without intravenous sedation, including those in medically compromised patients.

Rob is a member of The British Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons, British Medical Association and Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.


Dental Therapist - Stella Dalgleish

Stella is originally from Hawick in the Scottish Borders. Stella worked as a dental nurse for four years gaining her national certificate in dental nursing in 2000 with distinction. She was awarded highest mark out of 3000 candidates.

Stella moved to Manchester in 2002 to study Dental Therapy at Manchester Dental School. She graduated in June 2005 with Honours with Distinction and was awarded The Jack Harrington award for most outstanding student both clinically and academically.

Since graduating Stella has worked full time in practices around Manchester and Liverpool treating a wide range of patients in both NHS and Private sector. She takes a special interest in treating children and nervous or dental phobic patients. She also has a keen eye for aesthetic dentistry and routinely reconstucts teeth using white filling material.

Stella still lives in Manchester with her fiance Graham and house rabbit Valentine. She likes to keep fit at the gym, enjoys cooking in her spare time and also loves to travel and read. Stella and Graham are getting married in April 2011.


Dental Hygienist - Miss Emma Speed RDH Registered Dental Hygienist GDC Num: 6699

Emma graduated from Liverpool University School of Dental Hygiene in 2005 with a special interest in treating nervous patients.

Since graduating Emma has worked within NHS and private practices and has taken a keen interest in increasing her knowledge and skills by attending many professional courses to increase her level of care to her patients. Most recently Emma has completed training with American dental consultant Bobbi Anthony who is at the forefront of dental hygiene care and dental aesthetics in the UK, US and Canada. This training has helped support Emma in giving a more comprehensive service and to provide the very best in dental hygiene care.

Emma is passionate about her work; she enjoys working with nervous patients to help them over come their fear of dentistry and believes that the secret to delivering excellent dental care is excellent communication. She believes that through clear and effective communication in a relaxed environment the patient can be guided into taking an active role in their dental treatment and oral health.

Outside of work Emma likes to keep a balance in her life by practicing Pilates and loves to walk her dog Poppy. She also enjoys music and is currently learning keyboard and music theory at Yamaha Music School.
